چکیده

Abstract Aerogel is a nano-porous material with significant thermal insulation properties and good candidate for improving the performance of traditional materials energy efficiency in buildings. It therefore gaining more interest construction industry researchers are carrying out investigations incorporating granular aerogel into bricks. The aim present paper experimental investigation influence on both acoustic mixed clay-aerogel Samples 5% were tested compared pure clay. For each type brick, conductivity (λ) was evaluated Small Hot Box apparatus. (absorption coefficient α Transmission Loss TL) measured at normal incidence impedance tube. results reveal that clay sample initial mixture decrease to 0.212 W/(mK) 10°C, comparison 0.310 W/(mK). Also α-values better than ones without achieved (α = 0.29 about 1600 Hz instead 0.11) whereas TL values, despite (24 - 34 dB depending frequency), lower obtained samples, due density, according Mass Law.

Development of Innovative Aerogel Based Plasters: Preliminary Thermal and Acoustic Performance Evaluation

The thermal and acoustic properties of innovative insulating systems used as building coatings were investigated: Granular silica aerogel was mixed with natural plaster in different percentages. This coating solution is transpiring and insulating, thanks to the use of a natural lime coat and aerogel, a highly porous light material with very low thermal conductivity. The thermal conductivity of ...

Density, Strength, Thermal Conductivity and Leachate Characteristics of Light-Weight Fired Clay Bricks Incorporating Cigarette Butts

Several trillion cigarettes produced worldwide annually lead to many thousands of kilograms of toxic waste. Cigarette butts (CBs) accumulate in the environment due to the poor biodegradability of the cellulose acetate filters. This paper presents some of the results from a continuing study on recycling CBs into fired clay bricks. Physico-mechanical properties of fired clay bricks manufactured w...

Acoustic Spectroscopy of Superfluid 3He in Aerogel

N. Mulders Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Delaware, 223 Sharp Laboratory, Newark, Delaware 19716 (Received 21 December 1998) Liquid 3He in 98%-porous aerogel simultaneously possesses properties of a disordered p-wave superfluid and an elastic solid. We have observed two sound modes of superfluid 3He in aerogel. The first (fast) sound is a compression wave, and the second (sl...

Microscale Thermal Relaxation during Acoustic Propagation in Aerogel and Other Porous Media

The longitudinal acoustic velocity in silica aerogel is presented as a function of the interstitial gas type and pressure. This was measured using air-coupled ultrasonic transducers configured for differential pulse transit time measurements. The results are interpreted in terms of the thermal relaxation of the acoustic pulse. The microscale temperature oscillations of the gas and solid phases ...

Effects of Fiber Reinforcement on Clay Aerogel Composites

Novel, low density structures which combine biologically-based fibers with clay aerogels are produced in an environmentally benign manner using water as solvent, and no additional processing chemicals. Three different reinforcing fibers, silk, soy silk, and hemp, are evaluated in combination with poly(vinyl alcohol) matrix polymer combined with montmorillonite clay. The mechanical properties of...
